Minutes of Meeting
September 6, 2011
President Yvonne called the meeting to order.
Treasurer Doris called roll and gave the Treasurer’s Report. Myrlene motioned to accept and JoPat seconded. Report accepted.
Carol Campo, one of our members, has a quilt shop called Sew Much More at 145 W. Pine Street. She will now carry Elna machines, quilt fabric and some notions. She has sit and sews every Wednesday from 10 am to 7 pm. She talked about embroidery machines and gave out two door prizes.
Jan brought the anniversary quilt to show the group. Those who have not signed their block can do so after it is quilted. Lee DeMars will do the quilting.
Minutes had been read online. Mary M. motioned to accept. Denise seconded. Minutes accepted.
Service Project Chairperson Auline said if you have any more baby quilts or small quilts to donate, she will make one more trip to the Pregnancy Crisis Center.
She also said that she visited Helen Raley and would like us to send more cards to her. The address is Landmark Nursing Center, 1300 Derek Drive, Room 708, Hammond, LA 70403.
Sunshine Chairperson Debbie could not attend meeting.
Secret Pal Chairperson Mary E. read the birthdays for September and October.
Danette said that if anyone still needed to turn in retreat money, to do so tonight. She will write down who paid for Pat Z. and give the checks to Doris. She also said she will show how to make a zipper bag and gave out a supply list to those going to retreat.
Linda Pace talked about turning in quilts for the Quilt Expo. All quilts need to be labeled and each one is to be in its own plastic bag. Turn in quilts at the October meeting. She also needs volunteers to help with the hanging and taking down outdoors.
Secretary Danette talked about what’s new with the Quilt Expo. She listed the demos taking place, shared the applique middle of Sheryl’s Fat Quarter Stroll and talked about Tea with Marie. She explained what a fat quarter stroll is and how to participate. She said it would be helpful for Linda if when you turn in your quilt, you label the bag with Outdoors, Indoors, or 20th Anniversary. She said the Quilt Show with Alex Anderson and Ricky Tims donated 500 coupons good for a free month of The Quilt Show. Bus Trip Chairperson Myrlene said all systems are go. Everything is reserved, paid for and ready for us to go to Houston.

Sew What. Pearl from Bright Hopes did a talk and trunk show on “Managing Your Stash.” It was entertaining and informative. Nice quilts, especially that multi colored half square triangle nine patch. She said she would send us the color layout on it.
Show and Tell. Sheryl showed a Millennium Time in a Bottle and her 40th year high school reunion quilt.
Vanessa showed a red, green and gold quilt, Mystery Quilt with hearts, a brown quilt, and a rose & pink Chart Your Course quilt.
Anita showed a Turning Twenty in florescent brights.
Yvonne showed a Thimbleberry quilt, and a black and browns My Guy quilt.
Myrlene showed a Nancy Zieman quilt called Already Cut, Ready to Quilt.
Vernita showed a baby quilt with baby cartoon figures that she edited and printed on fabric, a BookShelf quilt, and an antique quilt. She also showed an erasable gel marking pen that comes in different colors and disappears when you iron it. It is called Pilot Frixion pen.
Jewel showed a Saints mesh purse.
