Bus Trip Chairperson Myrlene said deadline is tonight to sign up and pay deposit. We have 33 going. She is letting Krotz Springs know tomorrow how many seats are available.
Service Project Co-Chairpersons Linda and Jewel collected personal hygiene items for food bank and pillowcases for CASA. Everyone who brought something signed a sheet. They will also track Wounded Warrior quilts and you can sign sheet for that too. You will get one chance per participation – one chance for each pillowcase, one chance for each wounded warrior quilt, and one chance every time you bring items for the food bank - to be eligible for Jewel’s special gift at the end of the year. Linda has another charity she wants us to support. It is called Safe Harbor. They help battered women start a new life. If you have any household items in good condition (utensils, appliances, dishes, pots, pans, knick knacks, towels, candles, etc. all of the things that make a house a home) bring them to future meetings and she will deliver them. These women are starting their lives over from scratch.
Jewel and Linda also said that there is a website that shows you step-by-step how to make the pillowcases. It is at www.quiltedworks.com. Click on Tutorials.
Workshop/Circuit Teacher Co-Chairpersons Mary M and JoPat are trying to get Paula Toups to teach a class. Yvonne said for all classes that need a place, once we have dates set, she will check the church and community center to see if we can have them there. Mary and JoPat will also set up a sit and sew day so we can make pillowcases and wounded warrior quilts.
Special Projects/Challenges Chairperson Lisa Wilson showed examples of two color blocks. Mary M showed her two color baby quilt and wounded warrior quilt. Susan and Mary E also showed their two color quilts. Bring your quilt top to the April meeting if you did not have one tonight.
