Southern Sampler
Minutes of Meeting
June 1, 2010
We had our annual picnic at Jan’s house. A large group of ladies from our sister guild in Krotz Springs joined us. They spent the day with Myrlene and Sandra going shop hopping to Sew This, Bright Hopes and Mama’s.
Most of our Southern Samplers were at the picnic. Jewel came even though she is still recovering from hip replacement surgery. She brought the most adorable miniature baby dresses sewn into blocks. She said her leg hurt all day but the second she walked through Jan’s door, the pain went away.
Jan had plenty of picnic tables on the porch and in the garage. The garage also hosted several design racks displaying the miniature quilts that were made by both guilds.
Dwight was our fabulous griller battling smoke from a very sophisticated gas grill. It belongs to Jan’s dad and is supposed to suppress flame ups from the grease. Well, no flame-ups but smoke like I have never seen before. Dwight may never breathe properly again.
Jan made homemade coleslaw. Her bread and butter pickles were so very good. And I don’t know who made the artichoke dip, but that stuff was delicious.
The main dining room was full of desserts of all kinds.
Denise summed it all up perfectly in her note to Jan and Dwight “Thanks for a lovely evening. The food and fellowship were wonderful.”
