President Yvonne called the meeting to order. Doris called roll. A new member joined our club, Janet P. Secretary Danette read the minutes from October. Linda P motioned to accept and Vanessa seconded. Minutes accepted. Treasurer Doris gave the treasurer’s report. Yvonne got the pattern from Pearl from the demo she did in September and handed out copies. Danette said that Bright Hopes is having a demo day on January 14th. The election of officers, board of directors, and chairpersons was held. President – Myrlene nominated Yvonne; Sheryl seconded. Yvonne re-elected as President. Secretary – Pat Z nominated Danette; Myrlene seconded. Danette re-elected as Secretary. Treasurer – Pat Z nominated Doris; Linda seconded. Vanessa nominated Mary E; Katherine seconded. No other nominations. Sheryl motioned to close nominations; Ginger Mizell seconded. Vote was held by written ballot. Mary E elected as Treasurer. The board of directors consists of current president Yvonne, past president Pat Z, and four members from the club. Nominated were Sheryl, Ginger Mizell, Ginger McLin, and Danette. Mary E seconded the slate. They were accepted as the new board of directors. Danette will email bylaws to them and Yvonne will set a date for the meeting. Bus Trip Chairperson – Ginger Mizell nominated Myrlene; Mary E seconded. Myrlene re-elected. Retreat Chairperson – Mary M nominated Pat Z; Sheryl seconded. Pat Z re-elected. Workshop & Circuit Teacher Chairperson – Yvonne nominated Mary M and Jo Pat as co-chairs; Mary E seconded. Mary M and Jo Pat elected. Service Project Chairperson – Sheryl nominated Carol and Linda as co-chairs. Jewel wants to co-chair too. Sandra seconded. Carol, Linda, and Jewel were elected. A change was made later in the meeting as Carol moved to another chairperson position. Linda and Jewel are co-chairs for Service Project. Special Projects & Challenge Chairperson – Danette nominated Lisa W; Sheryl seconded. Lisa W elected. Sunshine Chairperson – Myrlene nominated Debbie; Yvonne seconded. Debbie re-elected. Secret Pal Chairperson – Mary E nominated Ginger McLin; Pat Z seconded. Ginger McLin elected. Sew What Chairperson – later in the meeting Myrlene suggested we create a new chair position to handle the demos that are given at our monthly meetings. She made the motion and Yvonne seconded. New position created. Linda nominated Carol; Jo Pat seconded. Carol was elected. We drew names for Secret Pal. Those not at meeting but names were put in the hat will be contacted by Ginger McLin to find out who their secret pal is. New business. Carol wants to send emails to the group from her store. We said this would be ok. Any member who does not want to receive emails can contact Carol to be removed from the list. Jewel made a motion that the bus chairperson should get her bus trip including hotel and other fees for free. Katherine seconded. Motion passed. Bus Chairperson Myrlene also motioned that we increase the fee by $5 to pay for bus driver’s tip. Katherine seconded. Motion passed. Retreat Chairperson Pat Z said our fall retreat dates are September 21 – 23, 2012. Yvonne asked her to try to book the next spring retreat on the Martin Luther King holiday so we could extend it an extra day. For this year’s spring retreat in three weeks, Vernita will do a skit called “What if your grandmother’s quilt could talk?” Danette will demo easy cut bias, two colored binding, 3D star and 3D flower. Doris found old name tags that we can use for current members. She gave them to Danette. Meeting adjourned. Show and Tell. Mary M showed two table runners and a duffel bag. Vanessa showed a top she won from Mama’s and an orange print quilt. Pat Z showed two coordinating quilts she made for her friend. Mary E showed two baby quilts – one minky backed and one in pastel colors. Rita showed a picture of her Moonlight Turtle’s quilt. |
