President Yvonne called the meeting to order.

Mary E called roll.

Five new members joined - Lois Freeman, Diane Holden, Kim Zimek, Beth Jelks and Pauline Pellissier.

Minutes had been real online by members.  Myrlene motioned to accept and JoPat seconded.  Minutes accepted.

Treasurer Mary E gave the Treasurer’s Report.  Doris motioned to accept and Charlotte seconded.  Report accepted.

Yvonne read the minutes from the Board of Directors meeting and the by-laws to be changed or deleted.  After a brief discussion, Jan motioned to accept the changes and Sandra seconded.  All were in favor.  Changes accepted.  Danette will keep the original by-laws and amendments in archive and will type the revised one to use going forward.  Doris requested that it be posted on our website.  Danette will do that.

Yvonne read birthdays for February and March.

Yvonne said Spring Retreat was a great success and next year it will be the weekend of Martin Luther King holiday so you will have the option to stay four days instead of three.

Sunshine Chairperson Debbie said that since postage has gone up again and Danette is posting Happy Birthdays emails, she will only send Birthday wishes to those without email.  Last month she sent out sixteen cards for birthdays, get well, sympathy and thinking about you.

Bus Trip Chairperson Myrlene said to sign up tonight for the bus trip.  A deposit of $50 is due by March meeting.  After that, she will open it up to the other groups.  You must pay in full by July meeting to be eligible for the free trip.  She listed the other rules for the new members.  You must pay your dues tonight and participate in three activities by September to be eligible for the reduced price.  The trip this year is November 3rd and 4th.

Service Project Co-Chairpersons Linda and Jewel named charities they would like to do service projects for this year – CASA, Methodist Children’s Home, North Oaks Pediatrics and Safe Haven.  They would like for us to also support the food bank.  Beth said that the food bank is in dire need.  After a vote by ballot, we will do pillowcases on an ongoing basis for the CASA children and we will support the food bank.  Linda motioned and Debbie Hoover seconded to support the Ponchatoula Food Bank.  Motion accepted and we will support both.  We will also support our Wounded Warriors as an ongoing service project.

We will bring toiletries to the March meeting for the food bank.  Jewel wants to track who participates every month and promises a wonderful gift item from her to the person who brings the most stuff for the year.  There will be a sign in sheet that you must sign when you bring items to a meeting.

Workshop/Circuit Teacher Co-Chairpersons Mary M and JoPat are working with Darlene at Mama’s to teach us a hand applique class.  We would have to provide the place.  Also, if you have suggestions for workshops, please email them to Mary at marymadere@att.net.

Special Projects/Challenges Chairperson Lisa Wilson issued her first challenge.  Go through your scraps at home and make a baby or lap quilt in two colors (or two color families).  Top must be completed by the April meeting.  It does not have to be quilted by then.  It must be a giveaway quilt for a person you owe a quilt to or a wounded warrior.

Sheryl said she has some free patterns on her website and asked Danette to put a link on the Southern Samplers website.  http://quiltingtizzy.wordpress.com

Mary E said that A-1 is doing a two day serger class and you can bring a friend for free plus other freebies.  www.a1anytime.com
