President Yvonne called the meeting to order. Mary E called roll. Visitors were Lisa Wilson’s mom and Vanessa & Sheryl’s sister. Minutes had been read online by members. Myrlene motioned to accept and Jewel seconded. Minutes accepted. Treasurer Mary E gave the Treasurer’s Report. Denise motioned to accept and Vanessa seconded. Report accepted. Myrlene made a motion for the club to pay Lee DeMars for a gift quilt. Lisa Wilson seconded. All were in favor. Sunshine Chairperson Debbie sent thirteen cards. Yvonne read birthdays for April. Service Project Co-Chairpersons Linda and Jewel delivered three boxes of toiletries to the food bank and 23 pillowcases to CASA. Jewel got a call from Ann at Safe Harbor. They need new pillows still in plastic bags, linens, cleaning supplies, size 6 disposal diapers, appliances, dishes, full size soap bars, shampoo and Scrubbing Bubbles. Linda registered our group with the 1 Million Pillowcase Challenge on allpeoplequilt.com. Myrlene donated fabric that we can use to make pillowcases. Workshop/Circuit Teacher Co-Chairpersons Mary M and JoPat could not attend. Yvonne said the workshop date available for the class with Paul Toups is June 16th. We need to be able to guarantee 15 participants at $ 20 each. She asked for a show of hands who would attend on that date. It was over the minimum. It will be at the Presbyterian Church on Charles Street in Hammond. The workshop is called Cajun Crossings. You are required to buy a pattern at this class. Denise made a motion that the club pay half the participant fee. Charlotte and Susan seconded. Motion passed. Your $ 10 class fee is due at the May meeting. Bus Chairperson Myrlene passed out registration forms. Denise asked who in our club are GSQA members. Danette said that the GSQA quilt show is April 20 and 21 at the Northshore Harbor Center in Slidell. We showed our quilts or tops from Lisa’s challenge. Meeting adjourned. Show and Tell. Diane showed a quilt in the Lovers Knot pattern by Eleanor Burns. Marie showed a Twister quilt. Sew What. Rhoda demoed how to make the ten minute block by Suzanne McNeill. She said there is also a video on You Tube. |
